Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Bilingual Staff Accountant to join a prominent Japanese corporation located in Atlanta. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in a multicultural environment and possesses strong accounting fundamentals. You will be responsible for supporting the finance department in maintaining financial records, performing reconciliations, and assisting with monthly/yearly closings, while bridging the communication gap between the local office and headquarters in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Accounting: Maintain the general ledger, perform daily accounting entries, and manage accounts payable/receivable (AP/AR).
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and corporate standards.
  • Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations and intercompany transaction matching.
  • Bilingual Communication: Translate financial documents and reports between Japanese and English. Act as a liaison for communication with the parent company in Japan.
  • Compliance & Tax: Assist with sales tax filings, property tax, and preparation for external audits.
  • Administrative Support: Support the Finance Manager with ad-hoc projects and general office administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Language: Native-level or Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (Reading, Writing, and Speaking).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience (Entry-level candidates with strong internships will be considered).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP). Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or QuickBooks) is a plus.
  • Cultural Competency: Strong understanding of Japanese business etiquette and the ability to work effectively within a Japanese corporate culture.
  • Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
